Custom built car transmission ?
Take the following situation:
- an old car ~ out of production for about >~15 year.
- kind of rare so rare sh parts , the factory has discontinued rmfd engines, transmissions & co.
- not interested in conversions
etc. You get the picture…
So, if i want the stock gearbox rebuild as new , as 1:1 , from a custom shop , can it be done ?
Take it apart like Lego , duplicate every part also with stronger materials while they are at it , keep the same ratios , etc
A know , a lot of money , but can it be done?

PS. Transmission in question, the Getrag 280/5 put on the BMW E34 M5.
If you have to ask you can’t afford it, that simple.
It would never be worth the money for a car like that.
